Before the finale began, Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood was feeling emotional about the end of the show. “I can’t believe I’m here at the @AmericanIdol farewell. It’s been an incredible run! Thank you for season 4! I know I’m gonna cry tonight,” she tweeted. Host Ryan Seacrest replied to her with, “uh oh, I was counting on you to be my rock.”
Season 1 champ Kelly Clarkson shared with her followers, “Bittersweet but I’m excited 4 tonight! #lastperformance #IdolFinale From the beginning 2 the end it has been an honor @AmericanIdol.” In a subsequent tweet, Clarkson took a moment to reflect on how her life has changed since winning. She wrote, “I can’t believe I’m sitting here with my little girl about to watch the end! How crazy is life?! #whoknew.”
In a series of tweets, Jennifer Love Hewitt expressed, “15 years ago I started watching the inspiring, fun and incredible show #AmericanIdol! The talent this season has been wonderful. Tonight my heart will be heavy and I will for sure be crying as it says goodbye!” She added, “Trent, I’m rooting for you! Who am I kidding… I’m rooting for you both! Can’t we have two winners?!”
Judge Jennifer Lopez said, “IdolFinale emotional and so special. Loving these performances!!” Host Ryan Seacrest joked, “There’s a lot of things I’m gonna miss about @AmericanIdol but idk how I’m gonna live without @JLo saying ‘Goosies.'” And rival host Carson Daly of “The Voice” expressed, “Congrats to @RyanSeacrest and all the judges, producers & crew for a truly epic run of @AmericanIdol. Best of luck w your big #IdolFinale!”
Original judge Randy Jackson tweeted, “It’s time to get, down one more time, with the greatest singing talent show ever! End of an era, beginning of the next. #IdolFinale.” Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson explained her finale song, “I chose to sing my song ‘Remember the music’ from empire for American Idol finale, as that’s what has carried me.” She further noted in another tweet, “If I could leave all you music lovers and dreamers with one thing. It would be to remember the music.”
