was briefly hospitalized on Monday after having a meltdown at a London airport.
The “Britain’s Got Talent” star was at the British Airways lounge in Heathrow when something apparently trigged a breakdown of sorts. Police were called, and cops made the decision to remove her from the airport against her will out of concern for her own safety. Boyle was then transported to a local hospital via ambulance for an evaluation.
She was not, however, put on a psychiatric hold, and has already been released from the medical facility. Boyle’s rep says she was able to catch another flight and is now back in her native Scotland. The spokesperson is blaming the incident on the former reality star’s Asperger’s Syndrome.
Boyle has discussed her struggles occasionally over the years, particularly the impact her sudden rise to international fame had on her mental health. She was previously hospitalized in 2009 after finishing in second place on the third season of “Britain’s Got Talent.” Since then, her career has had fits and starts.
The singer’s sixth album, Hope, was released in 2014, and she performed for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. She last tweeted a few days ago, asking fans their plans for the weekend. Gossip Cop sends Boyle our best wishes.
